Principal Officers from Makerere University Visit University of Ibadan
A delegation led by the Principal of the College of Computing and Information Sciences, Makerere University, Professor Constant Okello-Obura visited the University of Ibadan on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2017. Others included Dr. George William Kiyingi; the Dean of the East African School of Library and Information Science and Dr. Sarah Kaddu; Postgraduate Coordinator and the President of the Uganda Library Association.
The purpose of the visit was to establish collaboration between the East African School of Library and Information Science and the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of Ibadan.
The delegates were welcomed to UI by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, Professor Adenike Adeyemo who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka. She encouraged the team to take advantage of the visit to engage in collaborative activities in Library and Information Science related programmes in UI. She noted with delight that she was very familiar with Makerere University having been involved in research activities with colleagues for over a decade. She concluded that the choice of the team to visit the University of Ibadan to explore collaboration possibilities was a step in the right direction.
In his response, Professor Okello-Obura thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception accorded them and expressed optimism that their visit will be fruitful.
